A Day to Do With As I Please...and Need

Today was the first day in...well, a long time, where I got to spend a Sunday doing something other than planning all day. It was incredible. You have no idea. I went to our church business meeting, which was fine...but difficult. I brought my laptop so I could do my banking at the same time, lol.

Then...instead of madly planning the rest of the day I went with my parents grocery shopping. Now that I have time...I realized I needed to buy food. My kitchen has been empty for the last two weeks really and in the last week I've eaten up the last crumbs...which is why I have spent lots of money lately on take-out (which, actually, at least means I eat) or just gone without food since I have none and either wake up too late to figure something out or come home too late to be conscious enough to cook. So, I decided that despite the absolute horrendous state my apartment is in, the food was more important. My parents went with me so that they could help show me ideas of food to buy to stock up again. The problem a lot of times is that I'm sick of eating the same things and so when I go shopping I have no idea what to buy...and come home with very little...which means I still don't have food to eat. Anyway, today I bought a lot of food, lots of variety and food that I will eat and is quick so that even if I'm tired, I'll eat it. ANYWAY, that was a good thing.

Then I went home and planned...but I got a nap too! And, even though I did plan for 3 hours, I planned for US History! It's amazing! It made me happy because it told me that if I have time, i can actually come up with a good lesson plan for my US History class. It's good, it took a long time, but I think the kids will learn good skills, they will enjoy the content, and it's long enough to cover two days!! Gov has their test tomorrow so really, I'm good to go for a few days! That means tomorrow I can come home and start getting to work on this dump I call my apartment.

Reflection: It feels good to be able to have some say in your day. I'm glad I have food...next task, cut back on the coffee...which I think is now a bigger problem. Argh...I can't wait for summer. I really do love my job and I love my students but I'm ready for summer.
