My Humble Reflections on Clinton Speech

Tonight as I watched the Democratic National Convention on 3 different channels, I was reminded of why I do not like Hillary Clinton (hold it in Camille).

General Speech issues:
  • She noted about how we need obama...among the reasons were because Iran is in Iraq and Putin is in Georgia... (first of all, Putin isn't...Medvedev is...) My comment was...how will Barack help these situations at all?
  • AFTER ALL THE CRAP SHE MENTIONED IN HER SPEECH HOW CAN SHE THEN SAY , "and restore fiscal sanity" instead of "private plunder." She is obviously implying that Republicans are all about private plunder. Though some Republicans (as well as Democrats!!) bog themselves down in all the pork they acquire for their constituencies (including big business), it's McCain that's been fighting this fight for over 20 years!
  • She referenced that we need Obama to solve problems and included in those problems were genocide and terrorism...right...aren't the democrats the ones that have a problem when we get involved in solving those problems?
  • Solving these problems, "won't be easy!" (my outburst at that moment was...YEAH RIGHT!!! It'll be expensive!!!)
  • Heh heh...she name-dropped Biden's foreign policy experience...haha, the demos are doing their best to keep bringing that up. It's like, the only thing Biden's got going for him so that's all they bring up all the time. hahaha....
  • Man...she really got McCain...My comment was, "Ouch...."

Hillary is SUCH A CLINTON!!! Things she did that made me groan with the sick Clinton-quality of the thing:

  • "I'll never forget the woman I met who..." -- SERIOUSLY...this is from the Clinton era of campaigning...blech
  • Bill had 2 special guests seated on either side of him, emotional bodyguards -- notice Michelle Obama didn't do that last night

But here's the thing...people were crying all over! I'll give Hillary one thing, she sure has inspired a lot of people and I don't think that can be bad. Throughout her speech it was pretty incredible to see her supporters turn to Obama. You could visibly see the change. Take Michelle Obama as an example. At the beginning of the speech she was straight-faced and had those characteristic unsmiling eyes (maybe because the incredibly talkative Biden--that's what he's known for, being long-winded. At least if they win there will be a democrat that the media can lambast for how he speaks--was talking her ear off) but by the end of the speech Michelle kept rising with glowing, moist eyes...

At any rate, it was a good show. I'm thinking about having an open-house of sorts for my new students to come and watch the Republican National Convention at school together. I was thinking it'd be a good way for us to get to know each other. But, I don't know if any of them will come and I'm not sure if it's a good idea because it's only the Republicans (so it's unbalanced) and most of my kids are probably Democrats...so who knows if they will even come.

Anyway, something to think about. I've been trying to get ready for class for the last few days but it's really slow going and I'm getting really nervous. I've got lessons from last year but...I dunno, something's just not right and I'm scared of my new kids...ech...that is probably info for another time.

Work starts tomorrow...blech.

Reflections: Politics is fun. Planning is not. The guy with the curly-cue mustache that was on the screen for a second on ABC made my day. Seriously...who knew a mustache could curl like that!

I think we are twins separated at birth. I am Chariss Grubbs' aunt and got to your blog via her link. I love all your comment about Hillary and agree wholeheartedly. I also love the whole political process and am riveted to the tv as this unfolds. I could go on and on, but let me say I think having your students over to your house for an open house is a great idea, whether you watch the Republican convention or not. (maybe you could find a way to make it "fair and balanced...ha ha). You sound like you are a great teacher. Go forward this year with grace and confidence! The next generation needs your wisdom.
